The state of Michigan approached me to create a 30-second commercial that would play in all the theaters in the state during the spring movie season with the goal of reaching students who might be victims or have witnessed bullying. OK2SAY is a program that connects students through an app with help and services. I worked with a talented team of alumni and students to create the short piece. It was estimated that 1.2 million people would see the short in theaters.

This music video for the Granite Shore, a group out of U.K., had the goal of creating something that was between an animation and a storyboard. Keeping the rough movement that shows the hand of the animator instead of trying to create an “illusion of life”. The political issues with Brexit made this an interesting subject for animating. The inspiration was somewhere between Terry Gilliam and Bill Plympton. It was created in 54 days with a combination of Toonbom Animate Pro and Adobe Photoshop.

I was approached by the band The Granite Shore about doing a music video for their upcoming album Suspended Second. Initially, the idea was to develop an animatic that would be used as proof of concept for a live action film shoot with handmade tarot cards, actors, and a set. But, the band asked if they could use the animatic as the video. The video is also a test for a means of creating motion comics that allow for the gestalt principle of ‘closure’ to occur, an issue that motion comics typically suffer from. In the end, I also did several finished piece of art for the album.
